We’ve introduced improvements to how multi-level coding fields behave in Verify, making them faster and easier to use.
This release will change the way the coding fields work, where the coding is in a hierarchy. We commonly see this for Projects, but also see it where Account Code, Cost Centres and Departments are combined. This is also common for our customers who use Dimensions.
This guide walks you through the new field layout, how to navigate the hierarchy, search for codes, and remove or replace existing entries.
Navigating the Coding Hierarchy
Multi-level (Hierarchical) Fields are accessed by leaving the code field empty and clicking on the three dots. This will display the upper levels of the hierarchy. Clicking on the three dots again will collapse the view.
To navigate to the next level of the hierarchy, simply click on one of the right arrows. To go back up a level, click on the left arrow. Click on a code to select it.
Searching for Codes
If you know the code you are looking for, you can simply start typing in the empty box, and any matching codes/descriptions or levels will be shown and can be selected. This speeds up field selection and reduces the number of clicks required. If other levels match the search, e.g. a project name, these will also be displayed in line with the text entered. You can also search within a level.
Removing or Replacing Codes
To remove a code previously selected, you either tab to the code field or highlight all the text in the field, and the code will be removed. You can then follow the process above again to add in the correct code. This was a frequently requested change, and will make editing and removing codes much easier.
Viewing All Codes
A new ‘Expanded View’ button has been added to the bottom of the results box, which allows for the expanding or collapsing of the results. Expanding allows you to see all the possible codes that can be navigated or selected.
To remove selections, users can navigate back using the arrows in the results, or they can simply remove the text in the code field and start a new search. This removes the need to click on the levels as was previously required.
